鐵人三項奪冠 抗癌鬥士何亞倫綻生命光輝

　2008「金酒杯」鐵人三項公開賽今天在金門舉行，美國籍的「抗癌鬥士」何亞倫（Aaron Berg）無畏四度在鬼門關前徘徊，跨海參賽，不但戰勝病魔，更在分齡組勇奪冠軍，他在運動中尋回健康與自信，闡揚生命的光輝。

　三十五歲的何亞倫，為「金酒杯」鐵人三項公開賽二百一十三名報名男女選手中，個位數的外國籍選手之一，當大會介紹他是罹癌的參賽者，立即引起最熱烈的掌聲。

　何亞倫在冷鋒報到的惡劣天氣中，克服游泳一點五公里、自由車四十公里、路跑十公里，合計五十一點五公里的挑戰，不但完成全程競賽，還拿下男子三十五至四十歲組第一名，讓人嘖嘖稱奇。

　1997年來台灣擔任全職的傳教士、同時也是家庭基督徒聯會成員的何亞倫，2002年一月被診斷罹患第三期淋巴皮膚癌，已經是四個小孩父親的他，突然陷入恐懼，人生由彩色變為黑白。

　其後，在兩年時間內，何亞倫數度進出醫院，接受四次手術及三個月的化學治療，幸運的存活下來，但是化療副作用破壞肌肉組織，他回憶說，「當時連一層階梯都幾乎沒有力氣爬上去」。

　何亞倫罹病後更了解健康的重要性，不只要治癒癌症，還希望擁有比病前更強壯的身體，他認為沒有任何體能競賽比得上鐵人三項比賽，因此，列為自我挑戰目標，以一年半時間密集鍛鍊游泳、跑步和騎自行車。

　2004年何亞倫首度參加鐵人三項比賽，在分組賽拿到第十一名成績。他回憶說，當衝過終點線那一剎那，雖然跪在地上狂吐，心中卻是充滿喜悅，因為已達成夢想中才能擁有的健康和體格水準。

　何亞倫參加多次鐵人三項比賽，從運動中重拾健康、證明自己，再度把黑白人生塗上色彩；更可喜的是，今年七月初參加統一盃鐵人三項賽之前，醫生告訴他，體內癌細胞已經完全消失了。

　獲得新生的何亞倫，提出五個健康方向與人分享，那就是「正確的飲食、運動、睡眠、想法、說法」。他指出，生命苦短，最重要是活得正確，不要浪費生命或健康，不管有多少金錢，如果生病或死亡，一切都無法享用。

　何亞倫在金門的鐵人三項賽中，勇奪分組冠軍，首度踏上金門的他說，這裡真是風景優美的島嶼，尤其是感受到金門人的熱情；這次拿到金牌，激勵他繼續跑下去的決心，因為只有活著才能做見證，才有力量去幫助更多的人。971109

　

My trip to Mexico

Last month I traveled to Mexico to participate in two week seminar on public relations and media management. While there I was able to meet up with some old and new friends to do some training in the high altitude conditions outside of Mexico City. I also tested out a new pair of running shoes that have recently been developed by MERRELL.

This will be the team's official jersey and will be available at the official sign up event to be held early next year. Until then, keep working out and getting ready to role!

Live Right Seminars

I recently held a number of successful Live Right seminars on healthy and cancer prevention for such companies as Uni-President Takyubin (Black Cat) regional manager's training event. Also at CLSA Brokerage Firm's, Taipei Branch Office.
In the seminar we cover such topics as finding motivation to live healthy and exercise, how to fight depression and see difficulties as challenges to be overcome!

Team Live Right at Uni-President Cup Triathlon

On July 5th and 6th Team Live Right joined the Sun Moon Lake Uni-President Cup Triathlon, thanks to the sponsorship of the Sports Affairs Council, Executive Yuan who covered our registration and transportation fees, and to the Taiwan Triathlon Association for their support and help.

We had a total of 13 participants from our team (including my 13 year old son, Anthony, who completed the sprint distance race in just over 2 hours)

Our participation in this event was highly publicized in the media, with many reporters crowding around me as I came across the finish line of the main event!
We are happy to be promoting a healthy lifestyle this way, it is fulfilling my dream to be able to use my story to help others!

Originally I had joined the half distance race to be able to be able to race along with my son and other team-mates I was coaching who were competing in the rely version. I was going at a moderate pace to save energy for the big race the next day, so I was quite surprised to receive a trophy for 8th place overall. I was riding the new Merida Warp 9 which had been sponsored to me the week before--Nice bike!
I got 4th place in the full distance competition the next day!

We also cooperated with Uni-President and TVBS to film an instructional and promotional video to be used for this event next year!

We were very grateful to have my brother Nehemiah Berg visiting from L.A. who is a photographer and covered this event very well. Other companies that we wish to thank for their support for this event were SRAM, EXUSTAR, PROWELL, MERIDA, TRIGON, TOKEN, KENISIS, RITCHEY, AMERICAN CLASSIC, ECHOWELL, and TOPEAK.
